TGO Review of the Berghaus Hypertherm jacket on the TGO Challenge

I usually take a lightweight fleece on long distance walks as the fabric is tough, breathable, quick drying and fairly warm for the weight. However on this year's TGO Challenge I took an ultralight insulated jacket with rather a mouthful of a name - the Berghaus VapourLight Hypertherm Hoody - as I'd been impressed with it on short trips and its warmer than the lightest fleece. I've written about how I got on with it in my online TGO column here.

  1. Like most of this type of jacket it (imho) is spoilt by elasticated cuffs rather than adjustable that would allow for a further cooling/warmth option.

    1. With waterproofs I agree with you. I haven't found it a problem with this jacket though. If it's warm enough to want further cooling via the cuffs the jacket as a whole would be too warm.

  2. It pays to shop around, I bought one last year for £75 and love it. It is surprisingly warm. The elastic on the cuffs and hem are ideal for me and the pockets in the perfect position. Well thought out design.
