Hi Chris. Great review and I think your point about fuel savings being more important than cost or boil time is the key, especially on a long hike. I find I can reliably get 7 days out of a small fuel can with the jetboil but only about 4-5 days with my windmaster set-up. I like the new jet boil but have modified mine by replacing the awkward plastic cup that comes with the jetboil with a 300mL Evernew Titanium Companion Cup (EBY265) that slides right on the bottom where the plastic cup goes and by inserting a sawed-off and edge-sanded Nalgene bottle base inside the main pot which is just the right size to slide inside while nesting a small can of fuel. It adds a tad of weight, but now I have the 300mL cup for my oatmeal at breakfast or miso soup with dinner, and the plastic sawed-off nalgene cup for holding coffee or tea, which being a thicker plastic keeps the beverage warm while protecting my fingers. I wish I could upload a photo of my set-up but the site doesn't allow it. Cheers! Ethan

ReplyDeleteHi Ethan, sounds a good setup. I never used the plastic cup on the original Jetboil.
